Though residents of Slab City are looking to live off the grid it's not as isolated as you would think. It has decent cell phone service. The roads are all easy to follow in google maps. There is a library, a night club, a fortune teller and a skatepark. Many residents have solar panels to get some electricity. Many camping trips don't have any of the above luxuries.
