Salvation Mountain is a continually evolving work of "outsider art", build by Leonard Knight (1931-2014). A group of volunteers still are building, repainting and maintaining the site which needs repairs frequently due to the harsh desert conditions. Leonard build the mountain around the philosophy of the "Sinners Prayer" and everything surrounding the location is painted with bible verses. It's estimated there are over 100,000 gallons of paint on the mountain.
